Y11 Notes: Wednesday, July 12 Happy Wednesday. Or as I like to say, only 51 days until Eastern Michigan football season starts. A few bullets to share before we talk about a pretty big football story: Last month, I quietly paused billing from subscribers for the lack of content on my side. Billing, as of this writing, will still be paused for the time being. The plan is to rev things up on the content side, and unpause billing next week. As always, I appreciate the support through the summer as I tried to figure out what’s next for this newsletter.
Northwestern would really be screwing themselves over by trying to find a permanent replacement now when they could possibly wait until the winter and give the new coach a full offseason to prepare. The possibility of Creighton going there makes me nervous, it'd be a logical choice on there part. He already cleaned up the mess left behind by Derrick Gragg's last football hire as AD, so who's to say he can't fix NW? Creighton cultivates a wholesome image, and unlike Fitzgerald he actually has some substance to it. After last year, he finally has an 8 win season and a bowl win which would help sell him to people who only look at W-L record. All that being, said I'm inclined to believe that Creighton will stay. He's a legend here, and has the most secure job in FBS. Relative to competition he's got a better roster here than there (EMU could beat NW if they played this year I'm certain of it). Not to mention the fact that there could be better opportunities come the end of the season, especially if this year goes well for Eastern. What happened at Northwestern is disgusting and I hope it never happens here. However, if it's too late to hope for that, then I hope that anything of this nature is exposed, and that those who enabled it are held accountable.
